DAY-TO-DAY DESIGN: WHAT WE ARE WORKING ON

As design professionals, we face unique challenges with each and every project. Here’s a glimpse of how we are stretching our creativity and pushing the envelope in all areas of the home.

A current project has not one, but five guest bedrooms to design. How do we give each room its own personality while harmonizing with the home’s overall aesthetic? By hanging colorful, large-scale artwork in place of headboards. Bedding remains crisp and neutral, but accents such as throw blankets or table lamps compliment tones in each room’s focal point.

In this elevated fireplace remodel, we outfit the low-profile hearth in sandstone to complement similar materials found elsewhere in the home. A sleek widescreen metal firebox, and suede-textured metal cladding that extends upward to meet with ceiling lines, add modern touches. After hard surfaces—tile, wood, stone—are in place, we’ll select furniture to soften the room.

Recently we staged a bathroom shoot with Aspen-based photographer Alex Irvin, and it was truly a collaborative process. As the Wetmar Composite Wetstyle freestanding soaking tub is the star, we styled the space simply and worked with the room’s ample natural lighting.
