2020 Position: Interior Designer – Assistant

We’re looking to hire an experienced Individual to join the Robyn Scott Interiors team! We are looking for a driven individual with a trained eye, and project management skills to match. You need to be extremely detail oriented and know how to communicate well.

Our Interior Design Assistant positions assists in managing projects from start to finish under the direction of Robyn Scott, principal designer. This collaborative environment and extreme attention to our client’s individual needs is what pushes Robyn Scott Interiors to the next level. We expect our designers to be up to date with the latest finishes and furnishings as well as what’s trending in the industry, so we can stay ahead of the curve!  We provide opportunities to go to Design Centers and Trade Shows to stay up to date.  Being open to direction AND being able to working independently is a must.  Self-Motivation, time-blocking skills, and planning is an important part of the position.

 

Attention to detail and organizational skills are absolutely necessary for this position. A good designer doesn’t just know how to pick throw pillows (although you definitely need to know how to do that!), they also know how to be extremely accurate in determining scale, in measurements and details. An assistant designer will assist in managing multiple projects and it is their responsibility to ensure the process runs smoothly, behind the scenes. You will assist in all aspects of the client projects: create, manage, sourcing products and materials, communicating with vendors and contractors, creating mood boards and design boards, creating proposals and purchase orders, managing orders, problem solving, and project installations. We work extremely efficiently, and expect a very high level of professionalism from our team.

 

We use Studio Webware, IN-Design or Pages or Power Point, Excel, AutoCAD, and Sketch up.  Technical skills are a plus.  We are willing to train the right individual.

 

You will meet with clients, talk with vendors and contractors, collaborate with other designer/consultants on the team. We have a positive work environment where we work hard and get things done, but communicate in a nice way to everyone.  We create a once a week time together to plan and collaborate, and then we work independently throughout the week.


What we’d like to see:

-3+ years of professional interior design experience or experience in a similar field
-Strong Technical skills: AutoCAD skills, 3D Programs (Sketch up or other) Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator skills- In Design, Project Management Software experience
-Willingness to learn about trade sources.  Some knowledge coming into the position.
-Extreme attention to detail
-Great communication and customer service
-Confidence and ability to communicate your ideas clearly
-Strong leadership and self-motivation
-Great multi-tasking skills

-The Ability to assist in marketing needs- wordpress, social media and content topics
-The ability to work with a team and take direction

Time requirement: We are looking for a full-time commitment.  We are open to part time and can discuss flexibility.
